Sakura Hanami, Anyone?

Cherry Blossoms In High Park

And another sign that spring is in the air (to join my list from April 3rd) is the Sakura Hanami, the light and dreamy, jaw-dropping sight along the Cherry Blossom Walks (in two locations) in High Park. According to the appropriately named, Cherry Blossoms in High Park website, Sakura Hanami roughly translates to cherry blossom viewing.  One of the walks (my favourite of the two) is located east of Grenadier Pond. The second walk can be found near the Children’s Adventure Playground and Lower Duck Pond. The Cherry Blossom in High Park link above has a map of both walks. But, if that looks too confusing, just ask someone along the way. Most people are more than happy to point you in the right direction if they know the route. Once you make your way there you can feast your eyes on the Sakura in action. I took the photographs included here on May 1, 2009. The trees usually bloom at the end of April but due to the mild weather we’ve been having this year, they just might burst onto the scene earlier than usual. Once they bloom they won’t last too long, though, so if you hear about it or see any evidence of the Sakura in motion please, let me know. I’ll also do my best to keep you posted.

UPDATE: I just realized today was my 200th post. Wow…
